The Mellow Season

Got together with some friends last night.

Wine + women = wisdom

In case you were wondering.
We talked about everything under the sun - our kids, work, husbands (all good, Man, all good), retirement, and anything else that came up.

We laughed and ate deviled eggs and chocolate hummus. Not necessarily together. Blech. One of the women brought little bombs of chocolate caramel deliciousness. We cleared that bag pretty quickly.

As well as the wine. We were good and switched to water early in the evening. Mostly because we ran out of wine. A bottle just doesn't last like it used to. I think they're making them smaller, like everything else in the grocery store.
Chocolate hummus. Pure decadence. Tastes just like chocolate mousse. We dipped fruit and more fruit and then decided that we really just needed spoons.

If you're looking for a healthy treat, this is it. Two of the ladies don't even like hummus and they liked this. A lot.
I love this fuzzy type of dandelion. It looks like fur, doesn't it?

Everything is winding down in the yard. Colors are fading and flowers are going to seed. The garden needs to be put to bed, as the Man says. We've been so busy lately he hasn't had time to do it. There are lots of sad looking rotten tomatoes clinging to the vines. It's pitiful.
These little daisies are troopers. They're hanging right in there.

I think they're actually called feverfew, which is in the daisy family.
Some of the mum pots I bought. It's been so hot I've had to water them almost every day. If I don't, they wilt and droop and look very pathetic.

I need to find fake ones for next year. These real ones are too much work.

Autumn is the mellower season, and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruits.
