Quest for a Dress. Or Four.

Today was exciting! The bridesmaids went on a quest for a dress. Or four.

We all had lunch together, talking and laughing and sipping sangria. We had some great conversations about life and motherhood and careers. I love listening to this next generation ready to take the reins. They are so smart about the work-home-life balance. As one of them said today, "We'd rather make less money and have more time off."

As a group, they are satisfied with all the PTO (paid time off) they get and aren't afraid to use it. Their bosses let most of them work from home. And they're very flexible with young moms and the challenges that face them as they try to juggle work and child care. Workplace environments are much more relaxed with these younger people in charge and casual dress is commonplace. They work hard but they're content to walk away at the end of the day.

I'm very happy to leave the future in their hands. They sound like they have a firm grip on it.
After lunch we headed north to the bridal shop.

K had a color in mind and wanted to see what was available.
So many dresses to choose from.

K finally settled on having them all wear the same color but a different dress, each one finding a dress that suits the shape of her body.

Smart.
We pulled and tucked, pinned and zipped, clipped and snapped, and finally found four dresses that made everyone happy.

They are going to be a gorgeous bridal party.
What a wonderful group of women my daughter has chosen to surround herself with, women she has chosen for her tribe.

Like I said, smart.
