Alaska, The Great White North. Day Five. Kenai Peninsula.

Most of these were taken as we were leaving Homer, heading to Seward to pick up the cruise along the Alaskan coastline.

This was taken as we were coming into Seward. We stopped at the Exit Glacier. You could walk up to it and get pretty close. There were signs along the trail as you walked, telling you where the glacier had reached and at what year it was. Kind of sobering to see how far back it has receded.
Glacial water is breathtakingly beautiful.
Everywhere you look in this state the view is like this. Unbelievable.
So many pine trees. And I thought Maine was the pine tree state.
The Man talking to a fellow fisherman. We stopped for lunch at a diner on the lake and then walked around a bit before getting back into the car.
No words. Just beauty.
I love the way the mountains looked stacked along the right side.
This makes me think of Norway.
We stopped at a small community that has a strong Russian Orthodox influence to see one of the churches. We had to hike up a pretty steep hill to get to it and along the way we saw this fellow. An eagle.
Pretty church at the top of the hill.

Why Russian influence, you may ask? Alaska is very close to Russia in proximity.
Another church along the way.
Looking out over the small community of Ninilchik. See the snow covered mountains in the background?
