Baby Painting

K and I decided to try an art project with little man. She found the idea on Pinterest. It looked easy enough.
You squirt some acrylic paint on a piece of watercolor paper and then put it in a gigantic ziploc bag.

Make sure you seal it up. Or you'll be sorry.

Everything goes in the mouth at this age. Oy vey.

Baby does the rest!

The idea is to have the paints mix together by having baby feel the bag and the texture of the paint and smooshing it all together.

We learned after the first sheet that you can't just put small blobs of paint on the paper. Too little paint. The second sheet we tried putting diagonal lines across the paper. Too linear, not enough randomness.

The third sheet we got just right. We swirled paint colors all over the paper in random circular, loopy patterns. That was the right combination, Goldilocks.
He's done.

He had been painting for about 30 seconds at this point.

Loopy swirls made the best color combinations!
He couldn't do it all by hand.

We resorted to sitting him on the bag and painting with his bottom. One of us would hold him and the other would drag the bag around.

He liked that. Or at least he didn't cry.
We tried letting him stomp all over the bag.

He wasn't crazy about that. Plus he can't really stomp. He still doesn't quite know how to use those feet he's got.
Grampa kisses. They're the best.
Grampa and Mommy kisses.

Even better.
Some of the finished sheets. We did about ten sheets with lots of different colors.

K and I have some ideas swirling around in our heads for things we can use these paintings for.

More to come.....
