Les Miserables, Night Two
So I dragged the Man and Mom to see Les Miserables tonight.
I had to see it again.
I loved it just as much tonight. And I cried just as much as last night.
What a truly marvelous story.

"So, Mr. Man, did you love it? Did you love the movie?" I asked, as we walked to the car.
"Mmmm," he mumbled, dodging rain drops and not meeting my eye.
Huh.
I'm not sensing the level of love that I have for this movie.

I waited until we were driving home.
"So, Mr. Man, did you love it? Wasn't it a great movie?" I asked again, hoping for a more enthusiastic response.
"Mmm, well, there was a lot of singing," he answered.
What?
Of course there was. It's a musical, for Pete's sake.
And I told him it was mostly music and singing. In the interest of full disclosure and all that.
"I couldn't really hear what they were singing either, " he added.
That's it. I'm not taking him to see it again.
I'll take K. She'll love it. I'm sure of it.

You tried. But, really you should have taken K to see it. I can't wait to see it again. Going with P at some point. He really wants to see it!
ReplyDeleteI loved it as much as you and your sister - and I feel your disappointment for those not loving it as much as yourself. Mike and I love it equally -we have seen it in London and Broadway (Hartford) and the movie did not disappoint. It tied up some loose ends that I have always had when I have seen it in the theatre. I have been waiting for someone else to want to see it - but I may just have to go by myself - the music is amazing. I would highly recommend the anniversary show with all the old/original casts....I saw it the middle of last year on PBS, I think.
