Holiday Kick-off

Dinner at Sissy's house tonight with the family. My dad and uncle are here for Christmas, visiting from sunny locations, so we all got together for a family dinner.

Somehow the Man and I wound up in a firemen's parade on our way over to Sissy's.

We had stopped to pick up a bottle of wine and were leaving the shopping plaza when we saw a lighted fire engine coming down the road. The Man had to wait for it to go by before he could pull out. We surmised that the engine was on its way back home after being in a holiday parade or something. It was playing Christmas music very loudly and the colored lights were blinking on and off like crazy.

It was quite the spectacle.

Right after we pulled out onto the road, we noticed another fire engine coming up behind us. This engine was lit up with white lights and had Santa and all his reindeer attached to the top.

Full size lit up sleigh with a live Santa and lit up reindeer.

Oy vey. We were in the middle of the parade. There was a lead fire vehicle with red and blue strobe lights on, the fire engine with the colored lights and loud music, the Man and I, the fire engine with Santa and the reindeer, and another fire vehicle with red and blue strobe lights on bringing up the rear. We traveled with the parade for a couple miles until it turned off onto a side road.

Super fun. The Man wanted to put on the emergency flashers but I thought that was a bit much. They would have clashed with all the other lights.
We enjoyed the night with everyone. Lots of laughter, teasing each other, watching E bake cinnamon bread, eating yummy food, football.

A perfect night with the ones we love.

Something to remember: E and I sitting side by side, helping Grampa clean up his new iPhone. He was getting messages about needing more iCloud storage and kept ignoring them. We deleted a bunch of things and had a few chuckles when we deleted WebMD and found out later how much he liked that app when he needed to look up symptoms. Oops. We re-installed it, pronto. And then laughed for a while. He totally trusted us to take of his phone for him. J watched us to make sure we left Grampa's phone the way Grampa wanted it. It was nice to see my dad's grandchildren looking out for him and taking care of something that needed to be done. They are great with him and I am so very happy for it.
