Chincoteague Island, Day One

We headed out at o'dark thirty {very} early this morning. Neither the Man nor I could sleep last night. We were so excited to start our vacation. After waking up every hour, on the hour, the Man finally said, "Let's get up and go!"

It's a good thing we did. We got stuck in traffic in NYC for two hours. An accident closed the highway for quite a while. Once we got through it, we stopped for a break and had a lip-smacking delicious cinnamon bun for a treat.

We earned it.
__________

And life definitely needs more frosting.
We finally arrived at the place we are staying at and found this pretty one living on the property.

So beautiful.

I took this photo from a bit of a distance using my new zoom lens.
After resting for a bit, we decided to drive over to Assateague Island and check out the beach. We walked for a while, looking at sea shells, getting our feet wet, watching people fish. We sat on the sand and just watched the world go by.

My happy place.
Saw some wild ponies off in the distance.

As we were heading out to dinner, we saw a car stopped on the side of the road. A man with a BIG lens was shooting something. I asked the Man to pull over and we saw the ponies. So happy we stopped.
And more wild ponies.
Checking out the channel in back of the restaurant where we enjoyed dinner. We watched tour boats, kayaks and speed boats go up and down the channel throughout our entire meal.

Busy waterway.
This is what the Man was looking at.
