Hampton, Day One

We said goodbye to Chincoteague this morning. Time to move on to Hampton. It's always bittersweet leaving an area you know you may never visit again. There are so many places to see in this beautiful world sometimes there's not enough time to visit somewhere twice.

We really enjoyed our visit to Chincoteague. It's a down-to-earth little town with lots of friendly people and cool places to visit. Like seeing the ponies.

Stay away from the scuttling little crabs that look like spiders.

View from our hotel window overlooking the marina in Hampton.
Once we arrived in Hampton we had some lunch and went to the Virginia Air & Space Center for the Man. He loves, loves, loves, anything to do with NASA and the space program.

I love him.

So we go to a lot of NASA facilities whenever we get the chance.

Cool street art in front of of the Space Center.
Since we're staying right on the marina, we had to take a walk after dinner. Found a pretty walkway along the water and met some very friendly people. One fellow was out emptying the trash from the restaurant he worked in and stopped to comment on the hawk that was chasing a slew of smaller birds that had just flown past us. He then gave us some food recommendations for the area - including one to the local dive bar. We only discovered that when we got back to the hotel and looked it up. We may stick with the restaurant guide we got at the Visitor Center.

We walked a little further and found a UPS guy standing outside his parked truck just looking up at the sky. We asked if he ran out gas and he laughed and said he was waiting for a pick up. We chatted with him for a while about the area and the weather and the friendliness of the people.

Nice night walking around meeting the locals.
Oh boy.

The Man stopped at every "toy" available at the Space Center and played with all of them. Honestly. He loves all things space. He even bought himself a souvenir from the gift ship - a coffee mug. And this is a guy who NEVER buys himself anything.

He's a kid at heart.
I had the Man take a pic of me.

For historical purposes. I really don't like being in front of the lens.
